Does Barack Obama have enough experience?
|
Who actually has experience being a president. We have to base our decision on issues not how someone may define experience. Clinton suggest she has 35 years experience. I am 42 years old and I can say I have 42 years experience. But in what? This does not qualify me to be president. She has not been a president so I would have to say she has 0 years experience as president. Just like the other candidates.

Posted by e.mo on 6/6/2008 Kudos: 22 Censures: 20 His stand on FISA shows he is inexperienced and would make a poor leader. He said in opposing FISA he would filibuster it, but then he turned around and voted for it less than a year later! That's not leadership. That's not just a flip-flop. That is incompetence.
Posted by Freedomfirst on 7/20/2008 Kudos: 21 Censures: 15 Yes I do, I feel he has more than just politic experiences, he lives experiences, real life experiences now, and in the past.
Posted by www.creativetwoballoons.com@att on 7/26/2008 Kudos: 23 Censures: 18 Experience is not always the best teacher, in fact it could be a hindrance to what needs to get done for America today. A president's success more often depends on who he decides ( I mean advisers)to surround himself with. The way Obama has managed his campaign is evidence of "good commander in chief skills". A person who would rather destroy the party like Hilary is doing by trying to change the rules just because they do not favor her does not demonstrate good experience. If this is the way good experience manifests, I would rather that Barack not have that kind of experience.
Posted by gloria on 3/21/2008 Kudos: 25 Censures: 31 How can he have enough experience ~ especially as The Commander in Chief. John McCain suffered for our country in Viet Nam ~ how can you take that away from him. I am really getting sick of the pedistal you people are putting Obama on ~ he is too young and too connected to the crimes of the governor of Illinois and Tony Rezko. Read the papers
Posted by Anonymous on 8/9/2008 Kudos: 19 Censures: 15 He is ready and fit to lead America. And change to BS politic! What did Bill Clinton know about our nation, socially, politicall, and economy? He will do for the poor, he came from it. Tax cuts, and insurance not DEMAND for us to pay like Hillary's plans. Hillary is the blamed as well as Bush for our economy today. Remember she was for the WAR!!!?? Obama has more experience with legitimate she is all talk!! All we need is the people to remeber she want the votes from the Superdelegates not ours. That is all she mention in order to win I will never vote for her. Lets look at her passed??
Posted by DIaneT on 3/18/2008 Kudos: 22 Censures: 23 NO!Obama did not vote against the war. If he had the chance, he would have voted "present". If we count the popular vote, where all the people had a chance to express their choice, then Hillary is the winner. Super delegates were created by the party to make informed choices when ordinary people are lead astray by false campaign slander and promises. The kids who attended caucuses in Washington State in February were misinformed and shamefully slanderous of Hillary Clinton. It was as though Ken Starr was running the Obama campaign. Obama is the dirty one lying to wide-eyed impressionable kids.

As for those other statistics... do the math! He would have had to introduce or co-sponsor over a bill a day. He didn't have that good of an attendance record!
Supporting Link: Rebutal: Does Barack Obama have enough experience?Posted by Anonymous on 5/25/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 25 He has demonstrated his ability to command respect of his ability to lead in a trustworthy, believable way unlike any of the other candidates. He is brilliant and foreign problems will be dealt with in a good judgemental way unlike the current regime. Also we need change and he is the one. He is ready and able and willing to bring us into the future to huge economic growth. But he will have to apply himself in order to clean up the last 20 years.
Posted by jewel on 3/2/2008 Kudos: 24 Censures: 26 He's been in public office for a number of years, and has surrounded himself with foreign policy advisors
Posted by accordion.man on 1/28/2008 Kudos: 24 Censures: 26 Obama has about as much experience as that other guy from Illinois had. Yes, I refer to Lincoln, who - before he was elected - was famous mostly for his oratory, such as his famous Cooper Union address. I know, Obama is no Abe Lincoln. But before he became president, Abe Lincoln was no Abe Lincoln either. Obama has more political experience than many who became president, Eisenhower for example.
And yes, "Anonymous", he went to school with Muslims. So did I. Probably, so did you - if you went to school at all.
Posted by fredz on 2/24/2008 Kudos: 24 Censures: 21 YES BARRAK OBAMA HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO LEAD THE COUNTRY
Posted by Anonymous on 3/26/2008 Kudos: 21 Censures: 22 He is more than fit. He is trustworthy, believable, and I have total confidence in him and his abilities. He is also diversified in his approach to foreign problems. He has great judgement and he is well received in all countries. People listen to him and take his opinions as fact. He also has demonstrated great family values. Also our great country is ready for change and he embodies that change to us all.
Posted by jewel on 3/2/2008 Kudos: 22 Censures: 21 Senator Kennedy endorses Obama so yes, I do think he has enough experience.
Posted by Anonymous on 1/29/2008 Kudos: 23 Censures: 25 I admit Hillary Clinton does have more experience than Barack Obama, more experience voting FOR the war in Iraq that is! Experience does not equal wisdom, and even with her extensive political experience, she still voted FOR the war in Iraq. And now she still has no regrets for her vote. Just see the link below.
Supporting Link: Hillary Clinton: No regret on Iraq votePosted by Anonymous on 2/11/2008 Kudos: 23 Censures: 21 How much experence did the greatest president in American history, Abraham Lincoln have? NOT A LOT! But he kept our nation together when most wanted to give up. What about FDR and Truman? What about Reagan or GWB. Sometimes "experience" is not worth a crap. I would like to see someone in office who is honest and true and will put welfare of all American first, rather than personal gain. Most national politicians are millionaires or about to get there and that is ok, but do they serve all of the American people?
Posted by Anonymous on 3/4/2008 Kudos: 23 Censures: 23 the ywere great because they knew what was needed to take this country to greatness...maybe you don't know, but there have also been presidents that have promised a lot, wit htons of experience ,that delivered nothing but bad. Carter for example.
Posted by ivenski on 7/24/2008 Kudos: 15 Censures: 15 Hillary has literally half a term more Senate experience than Barack and then sleeping with the President. The proclamations she has 35 years would give Barack over 20 years of experience which is more than enough.
But more precisely, Lincoln illustrates you don't need a ton of experience. FDR illustrates you don't need a ton of experience. It is about judgment, decision making, and ability to think through a problem (something Hillary apparently couldn't do in 2002).
Barack has enough experience, but more importantly, he has better judgment. He isn't perfect, but he is the best.
Posted by polpartysuck on 3/4/2008 Kudos: 21 Censures: 24 Yes Because he has more experience outside of Washington then inside, and that is a good thing. He has lots of legislative time more that MRs Clinton.
Posted by junebug041 on 3/7/2008 Kudos: 25 Censures: 23 Obmama is more than fit to lead America. Let's face it, Reagan is one of the two men that have a done decent job with this nation, socially, politicall, and economically. the other is JFK. what are the similaraties, not scared to fight, legitmate tax cuts, and tax increases, and an intense focus on constitutionalism. and to say the Bush admin should be blamed for all of this. Bush SR went in, "Willy" pulled out, launched a few missles and stuck his head in the sand...and in monica. Bush JR got put into office with legitimate threats, Clinton dropped the ball, Bush picked it up.
Posted by Anonymous on 2/12/2008 Kudos: 21 Censures: 27 This is purely an argument that holds not merit. How often we choose to disregard the rich history of this country and by far, none of the majority and matter of factly, the first majority of U.S. President's were fit to lead according to the criteria that we measure by today. This is simply a distraction by the Clinton machine, who is are so very desperate to do whatever they can to throw the light off of her own lack of leadership. Having spent 2 terms as wife to a President does not afford carte blanche experience.
Posted by Anonymous on 3/11/2008 Kudos: 28 Censures: 24 I won't go over all the news articles that have highlighted the fact that experience does not equal a good president; in fact, some of the worst presidents have been the most experienced. There are other crucial factors to leadership including leading by example, inspiring others, being creative. I think Obama meets all these criteria as evidenced by his inspiring, creative campaign. Looking at HRC's background, should she be leading by example? Obama is a man of character; can't say the same about his rival.
Posted by mlludick on 3/13/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 22 How ridiculous to say Obama is a man of principles! Every good Muslim knows, born a Muslim, always a Muslim. Yet he denies his Islamic heritage to smooth over things with Christians. Even then, he denied his Christian mentor/pastor of TWENTY YEARS when Wright's comments about America, Africa, Hamas, and whites got in the way of his presidential chances. A man who will reject both Islam and his life-long mentor to run for office has no principles at all!
Supporting Link: Posted by Anonymous on 6/13/2008 Kudos: 17 Censures: 19 Barack Obama has enough experience to recognize that the American People need and want CHANGE. He has empowered and embraced the the American People with the vision that CHANGE is inevitable for a better America. He has shown compassion, tolerance and a sense of balance throughout his turmoil and made a decisive decision to move forward for the American people quality of a true Leader. If he was not capable, would he not be; where he is today?

In all matter of fact, his experience was less than that of Obama's. He became known, across the country, not for the effectiveness of his bureaucratic adeptness, but rather for the strength of his words as the nation read them, through the entirety of the Lincoln - Douglas debates.
Posted by Anonymous on 4/3/2008 Kudos: 25 Censures: 25 what doe it mean; does one have enough experience??? neither have been president before and the way this country is, anyone could be president. this question always come up when a non-white is running for any position of authority. we as white people dant get it but the people of color have been trying to tell us that for a ong time. this is what makes us look like racist to them and we keep blinding ourselves to the fact. i am only one wite-male and, i cant change this behavior by myself. if you really think about it the foreigner would rather talk and negotiate with a person of color

America is a nation of good people and we have come so far in correcting our own history but we need to go futher we need a Leader to represent our voices and i believe that he will be loyal to our cause.
Posted by bluej on 3/21/2008 Kudos: 22 Censures: 26 none of these candidates have ever been president. What's the criteria? Barak is just as credible and has just as much right to run for the presidency!

Posted by LatinaVote on 2/17/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 21 The best presidents of our nation have had equivalent experience: FDR, JFK.
Posted by coreyalmond on 2/16/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 24 For what he seemingly lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in intelligence. The Pakistani government thinks he's smart enough; as soon as he won the democratic nomination, Pakistan declared that they had rid their entire country of the taliban. They're all gone! Sounds like Obama's declaration to attack them if they continued to harbor our enemies, made an impact. No other candidates words left them shaking in their boots! Why? Because they believe he has what it takes to be a very powerful leader!
Posted by Anonymous on 6/15/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 18 Experience as president? He has none however neither does anyone else running for president. Hillary was married to a president that doesn't give her experience it makes her a liability. McCain went to war big deal so did my brother and I sure don't want him as president.
Posted by aj22 on 6/2/2008 Kudos: 17 Censures: 22 Did he get almost 18 million votes ??? Do some people question him other than the 18 mill... Ofcourse. He still has along way to go. I love his stance on the war and his stance on health care. If there are any more important issues than that ... I dont care....Other than the BIG E...
Posted by e.mo on 6/6/2008 Kudos: 24 Censures: 18 Obama's experience comes with OJT, like each president prior to office. He has proven himslef with his honesty, diginity, self containment and in every debate. His experience is also shown where he relates to each fellow American.
Posted by Reagan on 6/3/2008 Kudos: 17 Censures: 22 Obiviously he has enough experience as well as forsight to realize, there is a need for real change, not just a change in guard, but a change in how America is perceived by those we call allies as well as enemies! We played hard ball politics with bush and look where we are? We need a leader" not a politician that has networked with those that are responsible for the mess we are in. It's time for a real change and honestly I do not believe that hilary has that in her, if her campaign tatics are any indication on how she would run this country, look out!!!!!!!
Posted by BIGBOO34 on 4/28/2008 Kudos: 20 Censures: 24 Freedomfirst, do you remember your 1st job(assuming that you are employed)? You did not get the experience until you had begun to work; like most of us! I did hear this kind of scrunity of John F. Kennedy who also was elected w/a senatorial seat under his belt. Heck, Bill Clinton didn't have too much experience. He was governor of a small county state in Arkansas! (back the way, look @ G.Bush! Had experience of Gov of Tx; but look @ the mess he made of our Country!!! ALL leaders have the ability to surround themselves w/ great ADVISORS / more experience. Use common sense! It's the way to go!!!!

Posted by BIGBOO34 on 4/28/2008 Kudos: 23 Censures: 20 we have survived a blathering idiot in the white house for most of 8 years now. Trillions added to the national debt. Historically high prices for gas. Deficit spending in the hundreds of billions, again, by Republican, as in the 80's, and nothing to show for it. 12 billion a week to fight a war we shouldn't be wasting our resources on. The dollar losing purchasing power rapidly because of fiat money. The economic success and trend toward a balanced budget of the 90's was pretty much in everybody's face, is undeniable. A balanced budget, peace, are good for prosperity at home.
Posted by apertyx on 4/12/2008 Kudos: 25 Censures: 20 Saying someone has enough experience doesn't mean s/he has the most experience or the best experience... let alone that they would make the BEST president.
Posted by OR Voter on 4/18/2008 Kudos: 24 Censures: 23 What is enough when it comes to experience. I have 10 years of experience in science, is this enough to prepare me for a job of an accountant? So, if your experience is anything by being a president, should that even count? My opinion is, if you have brand new problems, you need brandnew solutions. Applying the same old ways will not fix the problems of today. I am a firm believer that experience is almost always over-rated, and therefore I say Obama is experienced enough in life to run for president. Will he fix any thing? Let's wait and watch.
